The 44th British All Winners Drama Festival - Broadway Youth Theatre and Didcot Phoenix Drama Group

'RIP Mr Shakespeare' is by Keith Hill and Bev Clark. Shakespeare is on his deathbed, but his dreams turn to nightmares as a company of clowns unravel a real comedy of errors. The play incorporates twenty of Shakespeare’s famous plays intertwined with modern text, eclectic lighting, music and sound effects together with an ever-changing presentation! How many of Shakespeare’s plays can you recognise? 'The Lesson' is by Eugene Ionesco. Written in 1951 as part of the "Theatre of the Absurd" movement, this comic drama depicts a nonsensical encounter between a bright young pupil and an ageing professor who, under the watchful eye of his faithful maid, is not all he seems to be. Didcot Phoenix is a small amateur group based in the South Oxfordshire area. We have regularly competed in local Oxfordshire festivals since 1986, but this is the first year that we have ventured further afield on the national festival circuit and we’re very excited and honoured to be here. We’d like to thank the Lighthorne Festival in Warwickshire for their help in getting us this far!
