All My Sons

Joe Keller is a thriving businessman who, during World War II, knowingly supplied the American air force with defective engines, leading to the deaths of innocent pilots. To avoid the blame, he let his business partner take the fall, but on a Sunday afternoon Joe is confronted by the consequences of his moral actions as a visitor arrives to reveal a secret that will rip his family apart. Miller puts loyalty into perspective through the lens of the Second World War. To a father, nothing is more important than family, but to his war veteran son, the survival of his comrades is of upmost standing. This difference breaks a seemingly perfect suburban family. Questioning the morality of the ideal, the modern tragedy runs a full circle on the subject of death. It opens as missing-in-action son Larry’s memorable tree is torn down by a storm, and becomes the catalyst for what unravels.
